Last weekend we went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, for a family media day event.
We started off in the Sesame Street Forest of Fun, which we had visited last year for its Grand Opening. Spent an hour there, riding all the rides, including Bert & Ernie’s Loch adventure, a relaxing flume ride; Oscar’s Whirly Worms; Prince Elmo’s Spire; and Grover’s Alpine Express, which just happened to be the girls’ first roller coaster. We took a moment to say hi to Elmo, and catch the character song and dance.
Then we walked through the rest of the countries – Ireland, Germany, France, and Italy – trying to hit every ‘kidsiderate’ ride in the park. The Little Balloons, Little Gliders, Roto Baron, Kinder Karussel, the Land of the Dragons, and much more!
We caught a little bit of The B-52’s concert, the first of a series of summer concerts.
Upcoming artists include The Bangles, David Cook, and Emily Osment.
Following all that fun, a reception for the media.
Yummy food & sweets, wine, freshly-made strawberry daiquiris… and goodie bags!
The wonderful evening culminated with IllumiNights – a nightly pyrotechnics extravaganza celebrated across the entire park. It’s the event that brought us to Busch Gardens in the first place.
Sadly, it was time to go home, as the park closed at 10.
Took a while to get out of the parking lot, but by 11pm we were happily having a late dinner at IHOP before heading back to our hotel for the night. Tomorrow I’ll tell you all about where we stayed…
Have you ever been to Busch Gardens?

This looks like such fun. I wish I lived near something that fun to take my children too.
I remember going to Busch Gardens as a young child and LOVED it. I should start looking into planning us a trip there..maybe next Spring Break or summer. I know my girls would love it.
