Flexi 8 hair accessories

March 19, 2010 by Mariana

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or Email Updates. Thanks for visiting!

Since my hair is super-fine, I don’t usually wear hair accessories other than elastic bands and basic hair clips. Nothing stays in my hair very long, and it’s just not worth the trouble, know what I mean? When I read the description of a Flexi 8, though, I thought that this might be the hair clip I’ve been searching for…

The Flexi 8 is a completely unique, flexible barrette that holds thick, thin, curly, straight, fine and coarse hair. The Flexi 8 comes in a variety of sizes and hundreds of ever changing styles… and uses an ingenious patented locking mechanism to secure it in your hair.

The styles I saw on the website were nice, but the size factor is what won me over! To think that you can purchase a clip suited to your hair thickness is great! Once I actually received a set of the barrettes, I was immediately impressed by how pretty they are. A very unique product! They may look fragile, but Flexi 8 clips are surprisingly strong.

Designed to bend and flex, Flexi 8 hair clips come in a variety of different finishes and are adorned with beads, faux gem stones, and metal accents. They come in 6 sizes and hundreds of styles. Other than deciding what style to get, picking the right size is the hardest part. You have to think about what hair styles you’ll be using them for – pony tails, twists, etc – and take into consideration how thick your hair is. For example, the smallest clip, the 2-inch Flexi 8, is best for when you just want to hold a little hair, or for very fine hair. This size worked perfectly for my 2-year old’s half-ponytail, pictured below. She loved it, and ran around showing it off! Click on the photos to see them bigger.

Product Review: Flexi 8 hair accessoriesProduct Review: Flexi 8 hair accessoriesShe loves it!

Cute! The extra small (2 3/4 inch) clip handled my 5-year old’s ponytail, and I found the small and medium were best for me. Small for my ponytails and medium for an updo. The website has a great guide that shows you how to choose the best size for your hair.

I wasn’t sure how the clip would stay in our hair at first, but once I figured out how to set it up properly, I can now do so in a second. The girls had the Flexi 8’s in all day when those photos were taken, and they stayed put. Because they’re comfortable, I think they forgot they had them on! I can now style their hair in the morning and not worry about it for the rest of the day… a mom’s dream come true! But the best thing? My daughters and I can all share the Flexi8’s we have. For now, anyway. I’m sure eventually that won’t be “cool” and I’ll have to buy my own. 😉

BUY IT!
Starting at $10 for the smallest size, you can buy Flexi 8 hair accessories directly from www.flexi8.com. Be sure to watch the instructional videos and follow the sizing guidelines before making your purchase. I’d suggest getting a couple of different sizes for different hair styles.

WIN IT!
One of my readers will get their choice of any three Flexi 8 hair accessories! To enter, please visit Flexi8.com, take a look around, and leave a comment telling me one design you’d choose if you won.

So pretty! I like the Diamond shaped center with dangles in smoky topaz. I try these on every time I go to a craft show in Denver, I just make myself spend the money on them not knowing if they’ll stay in.
