Playmobil USA’s newest collections

I never had Playmobil toys as a kid, but fell in love with the brand when I saw their amazing pyramid, pictured to the right, at last year’s Time to Play Holiday Showcase.

It’s huge, amazingly detailed, and has so many different features. The great thing is that the Egyptian playworld includes tons of add-ons, so you can literally build an entire kingdom, little by little.

The company comes out with new themes often. Just released in April, the African Wildlife and Dragon’s Land playworlds offer children two wild adventures with limitless options for pretend and open-ended play. Like last year’s Egyptian theme, I like that all the items are sold separately, so you can build your own customized playworld.

African Wild Life playworld allows kids to create their own safaris with rhinos, lions, buffalos, hyenas, and zebras. Retailing between $7.99 and $69.99, it includes a Wildlife Care Station, a Wildlife Waterhole, Ranger’s Vehicle, and several additional accessories.
Dragon’s Land playworld is all about fantasy! Castles, knights, and dungeons. Retailing between $12.99 and $154.99, this theme includes the Great Dragon Castle, Dragon’s Dungeon, and a Giant Catapult, among other accessories.

Playmobil also frequently releases limited edition products, which I’m assuming are only produced in limited quantities. One of the newest limited edition sets is the Family Van with Boat and Trailer, part of the Nautical Expedition playworld.

Complete with mother, father, son, daughter and family dog, this set includes a boat trailer and a speed boat that floats! The hatch opens on the van for loading, which also has a folding seat in the back. You also get beach toys, luggage, a picnic basket, mugs and sunscreen. Talk about detail! The boat can be motorized with an additional RC accessory that is sold separately.

  79. My cousin’s sons (all4 of them) LOVE playmobil toys. As a matter of fact when they moved from Pennsylvania to Alaska they were only allowed to bring their playmobil toys since it’s toys that all 4 boys could play with and are pretty gender neutral. So for them I’d LOVE to win this giveaway! I’m considering purchasing them part of the hospital set since their father is a doctor and their mother is a mid-wife (that’s why they moved to Alaska since Alaska needs more medical professionals).

  152. My Grandson would FLIP over the “Adventure Playland” w/all the Dinosaurs……there’s so many ways kids can learn thru play w/these wonderful sets! (I particularly LOVE the HOSPITAL set – a GREAT gift for a child getting ready to go have their tonsils taken out, or tubes put in their ears, it will make them a little bit more familiar w/a place that CAN seem cold & scary!!!)

    My two youngest would like the animal clinic sets as well as the adventure set.

    The guinea pig pen in particular would appeal to my sweet Christopher. Jacob loves sea turtles and they don’t appear to have any ofthose in the nautical section sohe’d probably want a velociraptor.

  237. I really like the Take Along Farm.
    I remember buying Playmobil in 1972 for my oldest child. There was nothing else like it available; and it was only sold at a high-end department store. I continued to buy Playmobil for my second child; and now I buy Playmobil for my 3 grandkids.

  342. Love PlayMobil products…my “kids” are in their 30’s, but loved to play with them when they were little. As the grandmother of 2 little girls (who fancy themselves to be royalty,) I know that they would love the Playmobil Princess Fantasy Trunk!
