What day is it?

I think I ask myself that everyday. Being a stay-at-home mom, the days just kind of blend in together, you know? These photos were supposed to be for “Wordless Wednesday” but since that day has come and gone, I guess I have to say something now. πŸ˜‰

Our inaugural plans were a bust. It was SO cold and we had no one to take care of the girls. I just couldn’t bring myself to take them out in 20-degree weather, not to mention the huge crowds.

So we all sat on the couch together and watched everything on TV… from the wonderful concert at the Lincoln Memorial, to the Kid’s Inaugural celebration, the Swearing-In (obviously), the parade, and the televised balls.

Maya got the idea in her head that she wanted to make a cake for President Obama (gotta love the sound of that!) much like we did for the Pope back in April of last year.

She was thrilled when I pulled out a Bundt pan. “It’s an ‘O’ for OBAMA!” she yelled.

"O"bama cake

After she scattered the last of the sprinkles over the cake, she came to me while I was washing some dishes and tugged on my shirt – “Mom, we have a problem.”

She looked very concerned, so I glanced at the cake to see if there was something wrong with it. Other than the fact that it looked like a big chocolate donut, I didn’t see anything.

“How are we EVER going to get this cake into the White House? Who will let us in?”

She had the most adorable pouty look on her face. Trying to suppress my laughter, I told her that we’d celebrate at home by eating the cake and thinking about President Obama and his family.

“So that means we can eat it NOW?” she asked. It was after dinner, so I had to oblige!

Here’s the baby saying “Mmmmmmm!”

"mmmmmm" she said

She learned the word cake… “Cake, cake, cake, cake, CAAAAKE”.
Not necessarily a milestone to be proud of..

can't have chocolate cake without a big glass of milk!

A glass of milk and chocolate cake…
I think President Obama would approve!

Oh wow, too cute! The cake looks delicious – the fact that it looks like a giant donut only adds to that, I think. πŸ™‚ Glad you had such a good day!
