Think back to the holidays…
I don’t know about you, but at my house the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas was too full of leftover turkey and too short on time. No matter how many “what to do with leftover turkey” recipes I found, I was still left with an unsightly amount of gobbler. In addition, whether I start shopping in June, I am still always making a mad dash to Target for last minute Christmas gifts.
With all the craziness, I still have a family (who is sick of turkey and other poultry-related dinners) to feed. This year, my parents came down for Thanksgiving, so I had two extra “don’t feed me another bite of bird” mouths. On Saturday, I decided to can the turkey soup and order pizza. Not a piece of pizza was left. And we ordered three.
zpizza has a ton of different organic toppings. Unique things, like avocado, shiitake mushrooms, roasted eggplant, gorgonzola cheese, chipotle pesto sauce, and truffle oil, just to name a few. For the carnivores, there’s chicken sausage, meatballs, pure pepperoni, and 100% all natural chicken with no antibiotics, hormones, or preservatives. They also offer a gluten-free crust. There are so many choices, it took us literally half an hour to decide/argue/battle. After the dust cleared, we decided to order a large pepperoni, a small gluten-free Tuscan (think mushrooms and truffle oil), and a small gluten-free Provence with artichoke hearts and capers. All three were DE-LICIOUS. My three year-old scarfed down two pieces of pepperoni. The gluten-free crusts were crisp and delicious. All of the crusts were fairly thin (which I like) and not greasy. I am a big fan of fire-baked pizza and these hit the spot. I am sorry to say, I think this meal ranked right up there with my turkey dinner. And it was way less work.
The moral of this story? Take a break from the madness and order some pizza. Your family will thank you. I even had time for some last minute shopping.
Check out zpizza’s website for a menu and location near you. In addition to pizza, they offer salads, sandwiches, and pasta!
Disclosure: I was provided with a pizza gift certificate in order to facilitate this review, but the opinions are my own.
