100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS, DAY 4
Today’s 100 Days of Weight Loss lesson is about boundaries. The importance of setting boundaries for your eating plan instead of getting stuck on the word diet.
So let’s picture a diet as a road or a path. This is a path I will go down each day. I’ll stay between the sides of the road – zigzagging from side to side at times – but never get off of it completely.
My boundaries are pretty flexible… a vegetarian diet, limiting dairy and simple carbs to once or twice a day, and getting at least 30 minutes of exercise. I figure that if I make my road too narrow by counting calories, fat, carbs, etc., I’m more likely to go off of it.
I’m sure that sometimes I’ll choose to make my road a little wider – like on Thanksgiving – but I’ll always stay on the road in some way instead of going “off” my path. Like most people, I usually have an all-or-nothing approach to dieting, which always leads to failure since there’s no way I can be perfect all the time. I’m working on letting go of that.
