Sometimes I find myself scrambling to write a post late at night, just to get something on my blog. I end up re-reading it the next morning and think to myself – huh? I hate it… but the worst part? My second ‘blogoversary’ is 2 weeks from tonight. I’ve been doing this without any form of organization for almost two years…
Day 12: Create an editorial calendar
Last weekend I finally created an editorial calendar. I don’t have spreadsheet software on my macbook, so I decided to use Google Docs. This way I can access my calendar from any computer, which is a bonus! Every night for the past week I’ve been looking through my planner and inputting events into my calendar. I’m sorting through emails, adding giveaways and reviews. I’ve added the weekly memes I enjoy, like Wordless Wednesday, and plan on adding one new one every two weeks. I’m actually enjoying the process.
This took me a few hours to do. I’ve learned that I work better with deadlines. I want to be consistent with my blogging. Maybe even get to the point where I can sit down and bang out a few posts at a time, so I can schedule them and have more free time during the week to do other things.
Today’s homework?
- Create an editorial calendar using the list of post ideas from the last task. Visit ProBlogger to see how he develops his weekly calendar. This is an example of an editorial calendar spreadsheet that you can download from The Blog Strategist. If you’re on top of things and already have one set up, then I want you to go through and edit it. It’s important to remember to just use this calendar as a guide, though. Don’t stress out if you miss a day!
If you’d like to participate, leave a comment so we can visit your blog and see how you’re doing! You can also link up specific blog posts relating to today’s challenge below. Just joining us? Feel free to go back and look through the previous tasks.

I have a rough schedule of posts I do every week like Mondays are What’s For Dinner Monday and Wednesdays are Wordless Wednesdays. I also kind of have a schedule of my plans for each day of the week but I don’t make one up each and every week, I just try to stick to the schedule as best as possible. Thanks again for sponsoring this!

I’m starting to have a weekly schedule. It has helped me to get something posted almost every day. Now I want to start working on at least one higher quality post a week.
