Cookie’s Kids Fall Fashion

While having two daughters is a lot of fun, I have to admit that shopping for them is a challenge sometimes. They may be only 5 and 8 years old, but they already have BIG personalities, with a fashion taste to match. Not only do their clothes have to be girly and trendy, but they have to be comfortable, too! This is why, with the weather getting cooler, I was excited to shop at CookiesKids.com for Fall fashions for my girls. I clicked over to the website, saw just how huge their selection is, and knew Maya and Maura would find something they’d love!

In case you’ve never heard of Cookie’s Kids, here’s a little history behind the store that’s celebrating its 40th year of business this year: 

In 1972, a young man named Cookie and his brother Marvin went into business together. They rented a small store in Jamaica, Queens, fixed it up, bought inventory, and opened a day after Thanksgiving with a full stock of holiday toys. The toys were a success, so they put the extra money toward buying children’s clothing for the next season. When that did well, they bought more clothing. The business was on its way.

When another brother, Sonny, came in as a third partner in the business, they began to open new stores in new locations and inventory expanded. Besides the latest fashions, customers wanted shoes, toys, backpacks and accessories and they were prepared to deliver.

By the late 1990’s there were six superstores throughout the NYC area, and an important addition to Cookie’s Kids’ inventory: school uniforms. It was the steady success in uniform sales that paved the way for founding CookiesKids.com in 2007, which originally sold uniforms and soon after the entire Cookie’s Kids inventory.

At first, searching through all the items at Cookie’s seemed a little overwhelming, but then I realized I could filter inventory by size, price, even color, so that narrowed down our choices quite a bit. There’s also a “Cookie’s Recommends” feature in the sidebar, with suggestions of other items you may like.

Maya is more of a “jeans and a t-shirt” kind of girl, so she chose the B Tween “Emma” knit top and Cherokee corduroy jeans, accessorizing it with VicTORIous sunglasses and Chatties snow boots. While my budget didn’t allow me to buy more, we just might add the purse and the belt later on!

Maura would wear a dress or a skirt every day if it were up to her, so she chose this preppy Star Ride miniskirt in purple. We matched the skirt with a black tee and leggings that we already have, though a turtleneck and tights would work just as well! I absolutely fell in love with the Guess “Moto Velour” jacket, and definitely have it on my wish list for a future purchase! Maura is all about boots – the Jessica Simpson motorcycle boots are rockin’! And that pooch purse… too cute!

Once I placed our order, I immediately received a receipt with an order number, then an email the next day with the status of each item in my order. We received a package from Cookie’s Kids just a few days later.

They’re both thrilled with these new pieces. The girls will be adding these outfits to their school wardrobe for sure! Maya’s birthday is coming up later this week, and she already set this outfit aside to wear that day.  “The corduroy jeans are so warm and comfy!” she said. Maura compared her new skirt to a tutu, dancing around the backyard. So cute! Those funky cowboy boots came straight out of her closet.
