Trust me, I love summertime. It would be my favorite season if it weren’t for those pesky mosquitoes that have me for dinner every evening! For this reason, I was thrilled to try out a set of Don’t Bite Me! patches, which offer all-natural insect protection in the form of a convenient topical skin patch.
With only two ingredients, aloe and Vitamin B1, there’s nothing harsh in this product, like in many popular insect repellents. The Vitamin B1 reduces human odors that are attractive to insects, and the aloe is there for inflammation purposes, in case you were to get bitten. The Don’t Bite Me Patch is fairly small, clear in color, so it’s not too prominent. Two hours prior to heading outdoors, you just have to find a clean, dry, hairless part of your body – think forearm, back, thigh, etc – then stick the patch on and forget about it! Couldn’t be easier. The best thing is that it’s effective for up to 36 hours.
Here’s a video, created by Don’t Bite Me Patch, that shows how easy it is to apply:
The technology behind it is interesting. Since the Vitamin B1 is absorbed into your body and excreted through your pores, this little patch will protect your entire body, not just the exposed areas. I always wonder how I get bitten where the sun don’t shine… know what I mean?
The Don’t Bite Me! patch is ideal for children to use because it’s safe (no DEET!), and waterproof. No need to worry about reapplying it after taking a dip in the pool or excessive sweating. In fact, it actually works better the more you sweat! As long as your child doesn’t peel the patch off, it’s a great alternative to those smelly sprays. Removing it is easy, by the way. Much like taking off a band-aid.
If you have a child going off to camp this summer, a pack of Don’t Bite Me! patches are a must-have. You can find them online or at a retailer near you, in boxes of 5, 10, and 20 patches. The mosquitoes haven’t come out full-force yet in my neck of the woods, but I’m confident that once they do, the Don’t Bite Me! patches we have left will be more than enough to fight them off.
