Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom Review

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or Email Updates. Thanks for visiting!

Dora’s going on another adventure! Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom was released on DVD last Tuesday and my girls love it.

In this feature-length movie, Dora continues her magical storybook adventure from last fall (“Dora Saves the Snow Princess”), when the magic crystal that the Snow Princess gave her brings to life another character in her storybook – Allie of the Crystal Kingdom.  A greedy king has stolen the crystals that give Allie’s kingdom color. Dora and Boots must help Allie locate the crystals and turn the pale gray kingdom back into a colorful wonderland before it’s too late.

I’ve always loved the way that Dora encourages kids to get up and move around while watching TV. She asks questions, and my girls answer. She says words in Spanish, and they repeat the words and learn them by heart. It’s a wonderful, well-rounded program for preschoolers, and this particular episode doesn’t disappoint. The DVD also includes a fun age-appropriate crystal color matching game and two additional adventures – “First Day of School” and “Boots’ Banana Wish”.

When the movie’s over, you can go online and find tons of Crystal Kingdom activities that go along with the movie, like dress-up ideas, recipes, coloring pages, and online games. There’s also a  Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom Wii game coming out in November and I have a feeling it’ll be on the 5-year old’s Christmas wish list. 😉

Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom is available now on Amazon and other retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $14.99… and I’m giving a copy away to a Riding With No Hands reader! To enter, please leave me a comment telling me what your kids love about Dora.
