Excuse me, have you ever you used bum wipes?

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Cottonelle, but all opinions are my own.

Imagine if someone stopped you in the middle of a public place (like an airport) and asked you that. Would you be completely mortified and keep on walking? Or would you stop and chat? There’s a way to talk about these things while still being respectful, and for some reason, we often seem to be more comfortable talking to strangers- I mean, we’ll probably never see them again, and everyone goes to the bathroom, so who cares if they judge us?

You know kids aren’t afraid to talk about this subject! You really can’t help but laugh when your daughter tells you in the middle of movie theater, while watching a funny movie – “Mommy, if I laugh too hard, my pee comes out.” It grounds you! Angelina Jolie was once quoted as saying that “the great thing about having a bunch of kids is they just remind you that you’re the person who takes them to go poop!” So true!

I can’t tell you how many times I find myself saying – “No potty talk at the table. No potty talk at the library. No potty talk in line at the grocery store.” Kids see our reaction and respond in the only way they know how. They love to shock people and get a laugh and will keep doing so if they know they can get you all worked up! You just have to have a sense of humor about it and realize it’s just a phase they go through, and ultimately, it’s nothing to be ashamed about.

YOUR TURN: We tell our kids “NO POTTY TALK!” but here I am encouraging you all to talk about your bums! Do you prefer wipes, traditional toilet paper, or a combination of both? Visit the Cottonelle Facebook page and engage in some real potty talk – www.facebook.com/cottonelle.
