You’d never think to use those words to describe a kid’s clothing line, would you? That’s exactly how Ferd describes itself, and I wholeheartedly agree.
Ferd is an upscale, contemporary kids clothing line created by mom and designer Jennifer Connaughton. She designed women’s clothing for 10 years prior to having a son. He was ultimately the inspiration behind starting the collection, which focused on boys’ clothing until this past Fall when a girls’ line was introduced.
Maya has a beautiful, jewel-neck knit dress from the Fall 2008 collection. It has a tie-string waist, and is so soft and warm! Most importantly, she is comfortable. It can be dressed-down over a pair of jeans and tennis shoes or dressed-up with tights and Mary-Janes. As a busy mom, I love that it’s machine-washable and suspect that it’ll only get softer with every wash.
Made for kids from 6 months to 6 years old, Ferd is unique in that it’s inspired by grown-up menswear! I can tell that a lot of thought is put into the design of each garment, with comfort and simplicity in mind. Only the best fabrics are used, including high quality prints from London and cotton and wool from Italy. I’m looking forward to Ferd’s Spring 2009 collection, which I’ve heard uses a palette of navy, white, green, cream and brown, and lots of interesting textures and prints. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to own a dress just like my daughter’s until now!
Ferd can be found at children’s boutiques all over the world.
Thank you to Ferd for the opportunity to try this beautiful dress!
