Many nations throughout the world, and especially within the Western hemisphere, celebrate El Día Del Niño, or Children’s Day, to honor and celebrate children. In Mexico, it happens to be today, April 30th.
Award-winning family music favorite Andrés Salguero came out with a new video especially for this holiday – Los Colores. With this song, Andrés celebrates the Dominican Republic through the rhythm of bachata, which is originally from the island.
In the video, viewers will travel with a magical bird and learn los colores in Spanish. Los Colores features animals native to the Dominican Republic, such as the rare and endangered Hispaniolan solenodon, the manatee, and the iguana. It’s lovely and a great way to learn colors in Spanish!
Andrés has also just released a new album – a celebration of Latin culture titled ¡Uno, Dos, Tres con Andrés! It’s available online at cdbaby.com and iTunes.
A native of Colombia, Andrés now lives in the Washington, DC area. I love supporting local musicians, so I’m hoping to go see him in concert this weekend in Alexandria. I think my kids would enjoy it and brush up on their español at the same time.
