It’s easy to get swept up in the Halloween spirit and eat a lot of junk around this time of year! Instead of giving my girls Halloween-themed candy and other sweets, I make their regular lunches a little more fun by putting seasonal twists on meals and snacks.
For example:
- Use pumpkin-shaped cookie cutters to cut their sandwiches into fun shapes.
- Make spiderweb pizza by placing thin strips of string cheese on top of prepared pizza crusts in the shape of a web.
- Add green food coloring to vanilla yogurt to make it look like slime.
- Really the only limit is your imagination!
As for drinks, milk in shelf stable Tetra Pak cartons make a great choice to place in kids’ treat bags. Leading brands like Hershey’s and Organic Valley offer milk in the “box” you already know and trust. It’s an easy way to provide convenient, on-the-go nutrition, as well as incorporate more calcium into your children’s diets.
Hershey’s and Organic Valley want to spread the word about this single serve milk, and to do so, have created applications on Facebook and Twitter. You can choose whether your friends deserve to be treated or tricked – all the while supporting World Wildlife Fund. On the Web, you can upload headshots of yourself and your friends, only to have them appear atop the dancing bodies of monsters, ready to trick or treat at your friends’ doors!?These applications are easy to do and easy to become addicted to!
My daughter is obsessed with sending ‘Trick or Treats’ to all our friends and family. You just head over to Trick Or Treat Me, choose your favorite monsters, upload photos of yourselves, add a message, and that’s it! There’s even animation and spooky music. This is a screenshot of what ours looks like:
So take part in this fun campaign and share it with your friends and family. Remember: while you’re sharing, you are also helping protect the future of nature. Tetra Pak will give 10 cents to the World Wildlife Fun for every Trick or Treat you send and every click on Trick Or Treat Me on Twitter!
