On this 4th of July, we’ll celebrate America’s birthday like everyone else – enjoying a parade, some BBQ, live music, fireworks, and each other’s company, while thinking about our history and celebrating our freedom.
1 in 5 Americans is part of an immigrant family… and we’re one of them. 38 years ago, my mom came to the United States to learn English. Having studied accounting in Mexico, she figured learning English would help her further her career. Little did she know she’d fall in love with her English professor’s son! My husband also emigrated from Bolivia to the U.S. 21 years ago, following in his father’s footsteps, who had come to this country to make a better living and provide for his family back home.
Fast-forward a few years, and things have changed quite a bit. My mom became an American citizen, a nurse, and a single mom. My husband’s father moved back to Bolivia, as he had always intended, but my husband has made his life here, and we’re raising two beautiful daughters. While our family may have evolved over the years, the wholesome connections that strengthen us have remained the same. In this documentary from Honey Maid’s “This is Wholesome” campaign, we meet a family who has immigrated to America to provide a better life for their kids, not unlike my family’s story. No matter how things change, what makes us wholesome never will!
Isn’t that a lovely video? Like that wholesome family, Honey Maid’s products are still made with wholesome ingredients, as they have for more than 90 years.
