I took the Aveeno Daily Challenge!

May 8, 2014 by Mariana

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or Email Updates. Thanks for visiting!

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Aveeno. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

I’m just wrapping up the Aveeno Daily Challenge, which consisted of using Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion and taking on a personal challenge every day for 3 weeks. In my case, I decided to challenge myself to eat more fruits and vegetables, since I struggle with that. Along with using Aveeno’s Daily Moisturizer, my goal is that these healthy habits have kickstarted a healthier lifestyle so, ultimately, I’ll achieve a nourished and more beautiful me!

I was even featured on the Aveeno Facebook page!

#AveenoDailyChallenge

At the beginning of the challenge, my skin was so dry. The winter air just sucks the moisture right out, like a vacuum! It felt itchy and tight, and was flaky in some places. Yuck! To help with my challenge, I was sent a bottle of the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion, as well as a healthy recipe book and some cute measuring cups.

As for my fruit and veggie intake, I’ve been making sure I have at least one serving of fruits and/or vegetables with every meal and snack. So, for example, breakfast is oatmeal with berries, mid-morning snack is apple slices with peanut butter, lunch is a big green salad topped with tons of veggies, afternoon snack is carrots with hummus, and so on.

Red quinoa with berries and yogurt… one of my typical breakfasts!

Red quinoa with berries, plain coconut yogurt, a dash of cinnamon, and a drizzle of maple syrup. So good! #plantstrong
At the two-week mark, I saw a significant improvement with my dry skin. I’ve avoided the long, hot baths I love so much because I know that doesn’t help. Plus, baths are more special if you only take one once in a while, right? I also decided that eating more fruits and veggies really isn’t so hard! It’s all about being prepared – having cut veggies in the fridge for snack time, buying precut salad mix, and keeping frozen fruit in the freezer for smoothies.

At the end of the three weeks, I’m ready for the beach! And I don’t mind wearing shorts! My legs may be pale, but at least they’re soft to the touch once again. My hands were the worst, but I’ve found that if I put lotion on them and then put gloves on, it seals in the moisture that much more. It took a little getting used to, but now I rub lotion on and wear soft gloves at night when I go to bed, plastic gloves when I was dishes, and gardening gloves when I’m outside getting my hands dirty. As for how I eat, it’s really all about the choices I make. Like when I ordered takeout from my favorite Thai place, I opted for the papaya salad instead of a rice or noodle dish. I’m sure I’ll still mess up here and there, but I think I’m on the right track!

It’s your turn! Spring proves an ideal time to start fresh. Whether eating healthier, getting more sleep, or exercising more each week, even a small change in our day-to-day activities can make us look and feel healthier and more radiant.

AVEENO®, the brand recommended by dermatologists for its use of natural ingredients, challenges YOU to take the #AveenoDailyChallenge for three weeks, to achieve a healthier and more beautiful you. Are you up for it?

I don’t have any problem eating enough fruits and veggies… I love them. Water is my total weakness. I am never able to drink the amount I should. I’m lucky if I get 2 full glasses in each day.

Love Aveeno products! Discovered them when my girls were just babies and have used ever since.
