I was first introduced to KT Tunstall a few years back, when Katherine McPhee performed her song “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” on American Idol. It was such a unique song that I immediately Googled KT… I wanted more! That year was big for the Scottish-born singer and songwriter, as her song “Suddenly I See” was featured in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” that summer as well.
KT Tunstall’s third album, Tiger Suit, has a different sound than her previous work. Released earlier this month, I know it’s going to be a hit. It already is! The name of the album comes from a recurring dream KT has had since she was a child. In the dream, she sees a tiger in her garden, and steps outside to pet it. It hits her that she could have been killed by the tiger, until she realizes that the only reason she wasn’t is because she herself is disguised as a tiger… wearing a tiger suit. Interesting, eh?
I’ve added a bunch of songs – including Uummannaq Song, Glamour Puss, Push That Knot Away, Difficulty, Fade Like A Shadow, Come On Get In, and Madame Trudeaux – to my workout playlist. They’re upbeat and many have a tribal-like quality to them. Just beautiful and definitely dance-friendly! Fade Like A Shadow is probably my favorite.
KT will be heading out on tour this Fall. For the latest news, tour dates and more, check out KT’s website, Facebook and Twitter.
