This is one of those toys that I want to buy, but my kids are a little old for. Or so I thought! Both Maura and Maya had a good time playing with him, albeit briefly, and I have a feeling he’ll be making many more kids very happy this Christmas!
Aimed at kids 18 months to 4 years or so, Let’s Rock! Elmo is taking to the stage singing and making music! Dressed in a concert style tee, he comes with his very own microphone and two instruments – a tambourine and a drum set. The cool thing is that Elmo actually interacts with the instruments! Place the bongo drums in front of him and he instantly recognizes them. Press his foot and he’ll sing one of six songs. Your preschooler can grab whichever instrument Elmo isn’t playing, as these are perfectly sized for little hands. While I could see someone buying this for their toddler, I bet older siblings would have just as much fun with him!
For even more rockin’ fun, Elmo also interacts with other Let’s Rock instruments – the Let’s Rock Guitar, Keyboard or Microphone – and plays along with you! These are sold separately, so if it seems like a little too much to spend $100 or more on one gift, you could always ask grandma to pitch in and get one or two of the other instruments, or add to your child’s collection when their next birthday comes around.

This is the first electronic Elmo sold by Hasbro’s Playskool brand, and I think they’ve done it right. Let’s Rock! Elmo is available at HasbroToyShop.com, most major toy retailers nationwide and online for the suggested retail price of $69.99. I just saw him on sale at Amazon for $49.99! He requires six “AA” batteries, which are included.
