I know my ‘Wordless Wednesday’ posts are usually personal, but I just had to share this, as my interaction with this brand literally left me speechless… so it’s appropriate. 😉
Last week, when I flew home from Orlando after a few days at Walt Disney World, I was anxious to sync my Fitbit to my computer (which I had left at home) to see just how much I walked. From glancing at my steps every night, I estimate I probably walked close to 100K in the 5 days I spent walking through the parks. An average of 18-22,000 steps each day. My poor feet!
Only problem – somehow my Fitbit fell out of its clip somewhere on the airplane home. I had it when I got on; it was gone when I walked into the terminal at National Airport.
To make a long story short, I tweeted about how bummed I was to have lost my Fitbit, and less than an hour later got a reply, asking me to email their support team. I told them my story… and two days after that, a brand new Fitbit showed up on my doorstep. That is amazing customer service. Thank you!
So that is the story behind that photo above, that I took after opening up the package. My advice: if you’re looking for a great pedometer, look no further BUT buy it from their website (fitbit.com) so their warranty policy applies.
Also, take a moment to label your gadgets! Having lost a camera recently, and now this… I’ve learned my lesson. I’m not sure if a tiny little label would necessarily have encouraged someone to return my lost Fitbit, but it couldn’t hurt, especially being something so small that they could just pop in the mail.
Happy Wednesday!

Did I tell you that my pedometer went wonky the day of the conference? It worked the day before, then nada. I was really bummed because I had hoped to keep track. On day four I pulled it out of my purse – it was keeping track of my steps. I think I may ask for a Fitbit one of these days. I think it would be a great motivator and the techy part would be fun as well.

I love my Fitbit and agree – their customer service is excellent! My first one quit working about two weeks after I got it. They immediately sent me a new one. I’m pretty active, so I like to challenge myself to increase the number of steps I walk. I enjoy the sleep function too, as I don’t get enough sleep. It’s the best! Be sure to keep in a plastic bag if there is any chance it could get wet. I live in a high humidity area and tend to sweat. While I didn’t think it got wet, Support told me moisture might have caused the problem with the first one.
