National Geographic Kids Almanac 2010

January 22, 2010 by Mariana

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or Email Updates. Thanks for visiting!

New from National Geographic – the National Geographic Kids Almanac 2010!

I sat down with Maya moments after receiving this book and we flipped through it together. The content is easy to read, the graphics are eye-catching, and just the sheer amount of information packed into this little book is impressive! It’s divided into 9 different sections and color-coded so you can easily find what you’re looking for.

Bet you didn’t know that a cockroach can live for up to nine days without its head… or that the tallest snowman ever built was taller than a ten-story building! Just two of the hundreds of facts that can be found in this book (and that my 5-year-old is impressing her friends with!) With more than 350 pages of amazing facts, crafts, games, puzzles, and hundreds of beautiful photos, I’m sure we’ll be reaching for this book often, whether it be for some fun reading, or as a reference for homework help once the girls are in school.

Best for kids ages 8 to 12, and available in both hard and softcover versions, the National Geographic Kids Almanac 2010 can be purchased on the National Geographic website – https://bit.ly/NGKids-Shop – and everywhere books are sold!

WIN IT!

One of my readers will win a National Geographic Kids Almanac 2010. To enter, please leave a comment telling me how you or your kids have benefitted from National Geographic in the past. For instance, when I was a kid I loved the magazine (well, I still do!) and would always take the map out from my grandpa’s issues and put them up on the wall in my room. So leave your comment, follow @NGKids on Twitter if you’d like, and good luck! It’s really a great book.

For extra entries:

  • Subscribe to my feed by feed reader or email (or let me know if you already do).
  • Follow me on Twitter (@OhMariana) and tweet about this giveaway: Giveaway! Win a National Geographic Kids Almanac 2010 from @ohMariana! https://tiny.cc/almanac857
  • Grab my button (at the bottom of the page) and link to me in your sidebar or blog roll.

Contest ends: January 31st, 2010 11:59 pm EST. US entries only. One person per household may enter. Leave a separate comment for each entry & a valid email address. Winner, chosen at random, has 3 days to claim their prize.

National Geographic Kids provided me with a complimentary copy of the National Geographic Kids Almanac 2010 for review, as well as one for giveaway.

I used to spend alot of time at my grandparents when I was younger. They have bookshelves lining their stairway in the front hall. My cousins and I would play “library” and “teacher” for hours and would read from the national geographic out loud even if we had no idea what it meant. There was a specifir one we would “teach” from about Yellowstone Park where my aunt lived. When I finally had the chance to go out to see it for myself all I could think about was the facts I learned in the magazine such as the reason the teton mountains recieved its name. Anways thats my memory of national geographic and hope that my own family can enjoy them too.

I subscribe! My family used to get National Geo every month – we read every issue and I love the magazine and would love to get this and share with my family… thank you!

I used to read my gram and paps National Geographic magazines and I absolutely loved to look at all the beautiful photo’s from all over the world! I benefited by wanting to read the articles just by looking at the pictures!

My daughter’s reading skills benefited from National Geographic Kids magazine because the articles aren’t too long and have lots of pictures. This made it easier for her to read and really improved her confidence.

I gotta say although I remember the old magazines, it’s the National Geographic channel now that is a world of learning. We watch a lot and learn something new every time, even though I’ve been out of school for a long time, it is still facinating to learn more!
