Oliver’s Labels

Labeling your kids’ stuff is something you can’t avoid. (Unless you’re rich and can buy a million sippy cups and winter coats!) I find that even the most permanent of markers just doesn’t do the job. Not to mention the chore that is writing your child’s name or initials over and over, just so it can become illegible at the first wash. But there’s a solution!

The Family Review Network gave me the opportunity to review a selection of products from Oliver’s Labels, a Canadian-based company. I received a variety of labels, including the Original, Mini, Shoe, and the new Stick-eez Clothing Labels, and my experience with them has been very positive so far!

• The Original Labels, shown on the right, are probably the most versatile of all the label options. They’re big, the text is easy to read, and can be stuck on to pretty much anything. My priority is to not lose any more sippy cups, so that’s where all my Original Labels went! I’m thrilled that they can go in the dishwasher with no problem at all. Top rack, of course! 😉
• The Shoe Labels are genius! They were easy to apply, are waterproof, and are still sticking to the soles of my daughters Crocs, more than a week after I applied them. Perfect for those times that you take your kids to a play gym, where they have to remove their shoes.
• The Stick-eez Clothing Labels are unique in that you don’t have to sew or iron anything. All you do is peel and stick one to the tag of a garment, and in seconds your kid’s clothes are ready to go! They’re made to go in the washer and dryer, but can be removed if your child outgrows the clothes and you want to pass the garment on to someone else. I didn’t try to remove a label, but can’t imagine it would be too hard. Another great use for these labels is to apply one to the tag of a favorite stuffed animal or lovey.

Since the labels are made of vinyl, they are waterproof and very durable. I was impressed by the assortment of different designs available. And don’t think these labels are only for kids. Adults lose things, too. I’d totally rock the Pucci-inspired label on my cellphone and iPod, for instance.

Lastly, I love the idea of the Found-it tracking system that Oliver’s Labels developed. It’s like a virtual lost-and-found. Participation is optional, but if you choose to do so, a tracking code will be printed on your labels. Whomever finds the lost item can go to the website, enter the code… and Oliver’s Labels takes charge from that point on. The great thing is that this is a free service for all customers, and no personal information is shared.
