I’ve only gotten through the first chapter of Mardo Williams’ novel, One Last Dance: It’s Never Too Late to Fall in Love, but I’m captivated already. I have to restrain myself from flipping to the last few pages to see how it ends!
One Last Dance is a story that celebrates the importance of living life to its fullest and never giving up on finding love, no matter what your age. From the moment the main characters, 89-year-old Morgan and 79-year-old Dixie, set eyes on each other, you can tell that there’s definitely a spark.
It only took reading a few pages for me to fall in love with Williams’ writing style. It’s so descriptive and witty! Mardo Williams began writing this novel when he was 92 years old. He had been a journalist all his life, but wanted to write a novel to inspire older individuals, like himself, to not just sit in a corner, but to go full speed ahead, and yes, maybe even have a love affair. He must’ve been inspired by the events in his own life… just a few years before he started writing the novel he met a woman who became his live-in companion.
Sadly Mardo died in 2001 at the age of 95, just after completing the first draft of the book. His daughters, Kay and Jerri Williams, used his notes to put the finishing touches on it.
This book is a perfect gift for any time, but especially for Valentine’s Day! It’s won several awards, including the Independent Publisher Book Award. The novel and the story behind the story are inspiring readers (and book discussion groups) all over the country. You can find it on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

I love his quote!
“Life is for living, no matter what our age or condition. If we can sing, we should sing. If we can write, we should write. We should always be in search of a new experience, always be ready to commit ourselves to a new interest.”
I’d love to read this!

This book sound so inspirational, expectually since I’m one of those people who thinks I’ll never find true love again. But this book proves it can happen, no matter what age your at. Sounds like a great book and thanks for the chance to read it.

This book sounds wonderful. I would love to read it and pass it on to others. We have a reading circle, My mom, aunts, sisters, and myself. We love books. This would be a great addition to the reading circle. I like that the story leads to the importance of living life to its fullest, just because you are aging doesn’t mean life is over. Live everyday to the fullest. Sounds like a great book. I love the story about the author, wow who better to write this book then someone in their 90’s.
Thanks for sharing

I would love to read this book because it is true that in America today the emphasis is on youth I think this book would be a refreshing change from that. I also love laugh out loud books and this one promises to be one.

Barbara Freethy has outdone herself. I have read other stories written by her and always enjoyed them but this is absoultely the best thing I have read this whole year. I really enjoyed all the characters, the way their lives were connected, the realism of the events. Very down to earth. I would recommend this to all my friends and family.
