PBS KIDS has tons of great stuff in store this fall and much of it starts today!

For Preschoolers:

• Dinosaur Train – From The Jim Henson Company, this all-new CGI-animated series premiered earlier this morning! Seen through the eyes of Buddy, a preschool-aged Tyrannosaurus Rex, it embraces and celebrates the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains while encouraging basic scientific thinking and skills as the audience learns about natural science, natural history and paleontology. Buddy and his adoptive family of Pteranodons go for adventures on the Dinosaur Train to meet all kinds of dinosaurs in different eras and learn fascinating new facts about these incredible creatures.
• Super Why! – To help build children’s literacy skills, new episodes will debut in November as the Super Readers solve problems in Storybrook Village by convincing the witch from Hansel and Gretel’s story to switch to a healthier, non-gingerbread house.
• Between the Lions – The new season introduces two new dinosaur characters, Velociraptor and Brachiosaurus, who demonstrate several strategies that help viewers read difficult words.
• Martha Speaks – The new season begins with a cameo appearance from Antiques Roadshow as Martha learns the meaning of words like “antique,” “donate” and “valuable.”
• WordWorld – Continues to foster early reading skills with new episodes that demonstrate similar word and letter sounds, including a story in which “Duck” mistakes “Truck” for a member of his family.
• It’s a Big Big World – A new curriculum-themed season from this life science series introduces live-action “Snook on the Road” segments and a new character, Riona the baby sloth.
• Barney & Friends – Introduces a green-themed special focusing on the animals, plants and insects that live in the rainforest.
• Sesame Street – Debuts its 40th season on PBS KIDS on November 10 with a focus on green themes and a series of celebrity guests.
• Sid the Science Kid – In a week of new episodes about weather beginning September 14, Sid and his friends will look to the skies for answers when a playdate is canceled due to rain.
• Curious George – The new season introduces preschoolers to the concepts of nutrition, physical fitness, and why pesky germs can cause the sniffles—and the smartest way to fight them off!
• Thomas the Tank Engine – Stay tuned for a special hour-long episode, Thomas & Friends: Hero of the Rails, in which Thomas stages the rescue of Hiro, a broken engine from a far away land.
• Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood – PBS KIDS will feature the top 26 episodes from this beloved classic throughout fall. Chosen by PBS and Family Communications, Inc. these iconic episodes capture some of Mister Rogers most beloved moments on TV. The episodes will also be available online at PBSKIDS.org/rogers in the coming months.
• 50 all-new PBS KIDS preschool segments will debut this fall, featuring Miss Rosa, Hooper and new music videos starring Steve Songs.

For Early Elementary School Kids:

• The Electric Company – Starting today, this show will be on everyday, charging up PBS KIDS GO! with a daily dose of literacy superheroes and wily pranksters that reinforce strong literacy skills and teach kids that reading isn’t just for school—reading is cool. As a part of the daily schedule, the series will debut new episodes throughout the fall.
• Arthur – A new episode of this long-time favorite tackles the sensitive subject of a character’s cancer treatment in a thoughtful and appropriate way.  The two-part show features a special animated appearance by Lance Armstrong, who helps show Arthur and his friends – along with young viewers – how they can take a stand , or ride a bike, for cancer survivors and the ways in which they can help care for and support people they know who may have been affected by the disease. The episode will air every day the week of Monday, October 19.
• Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman – The new season kicks off with science-themed challenges that include exploring underwater communication and navigation, purifying space shuttle wastewater, and discovering how to build a better tennis racquet.
• Cyberchase – The math-minded heroes of Cyberchase pet-sit Dewey, the loveable Deedle Beast and must decipher his patterns to stop the evil-doing Hacker in a new episode premiere.
• WordGirl – She battles Tobey and his evil candy-stealing robots to save Halloween in a special holiday episode.
• Online, PBSKIDSGO.org launches Lifeboat to Mars, an immersive science education game that challenges future scientists to learn key biology concepts to rebuild a virtual ecosystem.  Players can even build their own versions of the game for other kids to play and rate.
• The PBS KIDS GO! video player (PBSKIDSGO.org/video) debuts a new “Back to School” channel featuring themed episodes to help guide kids through the emotions, excitement and fear they may face going back to school.

For Parents & Educators:

• On PBS Parents, “Getting Ready for School” features debut mid-August, focusing on the academic side of school, including tips on such important topics as easing first day jitters, what to look for in a quality classroom, what children learn grade-by-grade, and more.
• “Settling into School” addresses the social side of back-to-school and features a range of helpful advice on such issues as managing friendships and dealing with bullies.
• An Expert Q&A with Aviva Goldfarb, founder of The Six O’Clock Scramble, will help prep parents on making quick and healthy meals for their kids during the busy back-to-school season and year-round. Through September 15th.
