I’m always on the lookout for children’s music that is as pleasing to me as it is to Maya. After all, however catchy their songs may be, I can only take so much of the Wiggles! Back in 2005, by way of the DCUM forum, I was introduced to the delightfulness that is Ralph’s World. Maya had just had her first birthday a month earlier, so I figured there was no better time to take her to her first concert!
Here she is, the little devil in red:
I was pleasantly surprised at how much we both enjoyed ourselves! I really think that Ralph has written some of the best children’s music out there right now. A few days ago, I came upon a Ralph’s World song I hadn’t yet heard and it brought tears to my eyes. My little girls are growing up so fast, and the lyrics are just perfect for this moment.

My mother… is a little bit taller than me,
But who knows how long it will be like that?
’cause things are changin…
I get a little taller everyday
My father… is a little bit smarter than me,
But who knows
how much longer things will be like that?
’cause things are changin’
and I been changin’
I get a little smarter everyday
Ho-dee-oh, over the rainbow!
Hi-dee-hi, to the top of the sky!
Look at me, ma, I’m ridin with no hands!
I do the best I can.
My sister… is a little bit sweeter than me,
But who knows how long it will be like that?
’cause things are changin…
I get a little sweeter everyday
My brother… is a little bit faster than me
But who knows
how much longer things will be like that?
’cause things are changin’…
and I been changin’…
I get a little faster everyday
Ho-dee-oh, over the rainbow
Hi-dee-hi, to the top of the sky
Look at me, ma, I’m ridin with no hands!
I do the best I can
I do the best I can
My dreams… are a little bit bigger than me
But who knows how much longer things will be like that?
’cause, things are changin…
And I been changin
I get a little bigger everyday
Ho-dee-oh, over the rainbow
Hi-dee-hi, to the top of the sky
Look at me, ma, I’m ridin with no hands!
And tippin’ back my chair
I didn’t brush my hair
But, I do the best I can
Ho-dee-oh, over the rainbow
Hi-dee-hi, to the top of the sky
Beauregard, was my very first dog
And I’m riding with no hands
I’m riding with no hands
I’m still riding with no hands
