Product Review: Complete Air convertible car seatOne of the most popular posts on my blog over the past year is my review of the Safety 1st Complete Air convertible car seat with Air Protect . I still get hits (page visits) on it everyday, almost 8 months after writing it! You may remember that Safety 1st provided me with two of those car seats for my daughters. I’ve since donated one of them, but the other has gotten hours and hours of use since last summer. It’s comfortable for my daughters, easy to move from one car to the next, and most importantly – safe.

What is Air Protect?
See those “wings” around my daughters head in the photo to the right? That is Air Protect. On either side of the headrest is an air-filled pad that, if a side impact collision were to occur, would release just the right amount of air to shield her from severe head trauma. That precise release of air extends the ride-down – the amount of time it takes to slow a child’s movement in a crash – thus creating a softer landing.

Safety 1st just came out with an infant car seat that features the same Air Protect technology.
It’s called the onBoard 35 Air. It has more leg room than most infant car seats and a harness specially designed to fit preemies, so it can be used in rear-facing position for a baby as little as 4 pounds, all the way up to 35 pounds and 32″ in height.

  33. When Lil Bit was born he was tiny and the conventional infant seat we had purchased for him wouldn’t tighten down enough for him to fit in it properly until he was almost 5 weeks old. I never truly felt safe with him in that seat and the seat itself was just cumbersome and not friendly at all. Now that my daughter is expecting her second baby we’ve been looking at new seat options. I like this one … I like it a lot … and since we’re expecting this baby to be tiny too this seat would be great!

We have the Air Protect convertible seat for our 14 month old son.We absolutely LOVE it!(we were counting down for when this seat came available :)) We just found out we’re expecting this christmas and this infant carrier is our MUST have for the new baby.We have enough on our minds as parents.   62. I LOVE my Complete Air seat I have for my foster daughter. I have been watching for a coupon to buy the infant seat – my old one is expiring and needs replacing. I love the looks and safety features of this infant seat. I also love that it has more leg room .. the leg room on most infant seats leaves a lot to be desired considering the weight limit of the seats.

  100. We are expecting a new baby this year, and have been debating about infant seats versus convertible seats. This seat is actually a great compromise because it’s shaped to fit a tiny newborn comfortably, but it still goes up to 35 pounds (that’s as high as many convertibles!)

  185. I have been scouring the web reading reviews of infant car seats and this is one of my top runners. I like that this seat will hold a very small infant and goes up to 35lbs. A lot of the other infant seats only go to 30lbs. I also like the price point, although I would love to win it for the little one I have on the way!

  191. Hubby needs a car seat for his car! The latch system is so great but our car seat in my truck is so big (convertable) its hard to pull it out and swapping everytime we go somewhere in the car!

  196. Glad to see that Safety 1st came out with air protect for the infant car seat. You would hope it never has to be used but at least you know it’s there to protect if needed.

  216. Great product review! I love the straight, fact based info on the Safety 1st onBoard 35 infant car seat….and I especially like that ist was a one Click LATCH installation system. The protection is so important, but without easy installation for we bumbling single moms…the protection would be for naught.

  218. Works for only 4 lbs that means you can use this immediately upon birth even if a little premature. That’s great.
