Safety 1st ‘Summer Road Trip Safety’

A week from tonight I will be updating this blog from the comfort of my hotel room in the Windy City. Yes, it’s almost that time – BlogHer ’09 – and I can’t wait! It’ll be my first time visiting Chicago. I don’t have any official sponsors for the conference, but there are several companies that are helping make my trip a little bit easier.   22. Everything is local this year unfortunately. We do have 3 beaches that we can go to though, so spending a lot of time at the beach!

  50. We will be visiting our friends on gulf coast of FL, we live in central FL, to hang out at their pool and play with their kids and go to the beach. Then they will visit us to hang out at the pool and go to Disney. We always have a great time — they are teachers, so they have the summer off, it is sooo much fun and we love their kids, they ar wonderful girls!!

  57. Summer travel plans is going to Disneyland for my birthday!! We can’t wait it’s going to be magical and my kids are so excited that we are staying at the Disneyland resort! it’s a 2 hour drive from my house!

  69. I wanted to attend BlogHer 09, but those plans didn’t come through for me, so now I’m planning on taking a trip to northern Michigan where I’m from with my son and my husband. It will be Jeremiah’s first road trip!

  70. We have to visit my mother-in-law in Georgia for ten long days-ugh. She just called last night to confirm everything. She said that my two kids are “just gorgeous”. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Only one problem–I have THREE kids, not two. She thinks that my youngest is ugly and won’t acknowledge her. This is who I have to deal with in a few weeks, so wish me luck–

  73. I don’t have any plans this summer. We usually rent a house in Ocracoke, but no money for that this year. Hope to take in some local sites that I haven’t seen yet.

  74. I want to take a road trip to Salt Lake City, Utah to visit my family and friends. I recently moved to the San Francisco area and still get homesick!

    My summer plans: lots and lots of reading. I don’t really have much going on apart from the everyday things. Try to relax. I’m not going anywhere, but I did have my brother’s wedding which was nice.

We’re planning on visiting relatives in FL in mid-August but instead of flying there, we’re looking into renting an RV so we could stop along the way to see friends & relatives in NJ, VA, NC, SC, GA and finally arrive at our destination, FL.   87. Our summer plans consisted of driving to Myrtle Beach as well as Great Wolf Lodge (near Charlotte, NC). We did those in June and now we’re staying home for a while, since I’m due in 5 weeks.

  112. We already took our summer vacation last month so we don’t really have any big plans for the summer. There are a few local things that will be going on that we will do and I am hoping to make a visit to the zoo. I love the zoo. We have a membership to The Henry Ford so we will spend a lot of time at Greenfield Village, a great place for history, and, for us, for just walking around or watching a ball game.

  117. So far this summer, we’ve been to Washington DC and Boston. We will be going to Myrtle Beach mid August.

  188. DUe to the economy, we don’t have any BIG plans for the summer. However, we are taking advantage of our lovely beaches. The kids can play for hours in the water and sand!

  209. I’m almost 6 months pregnant with twins and no longer allowed to travel. All of my summer travels are behind me.

  212. We’ve been going back and forth to visit the grandparents all summer… every other weekend we take a three hour drive south to see them. It’s a haul, but it makes the kids (and my parents) very happy!

  218. We travel to my parents cabin several times a month. It is a 2 hr drive each way but it is well worth it. We don’t have any other travel plans for this summer yet.

  229. With a medically fragile kid vacationing just isn’t in the cards.

    However safety is still so important. We take a lot of trips up to our children’s hosptial which is about an hour each way.
