The National Cherry Blossom Festival

The cherry blossoms in Washington, DC, are in peak bloom at the moment, and as tired as we were from our busy weekend, I just had to go down and see them. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow, and sometimes that brings the blossoms down sooner than expected.

Here’s my little cherry blossom, sitting comfortably against the trunk of a tree.

I love how the sky and the Washington Monument are reflected in the Tidal Basin.

The Jefferson Memorial. You see how many people are sitting on the steps? There are performances there every day for the duration of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

The trees give wonderful shade.

As we were walking to the Metro, we stopped to look back,
knowing well that the next time we come down here, the trees will be… just trees.

Love this meme. I’ve posted about our trip to NYC. On the Sunday we spent hours at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art. A little much for the 5-year-old, O.K. for the 10-year-old, and much adored by the 13-year-old.

I love the pictures! I wish that we would have been able to make it down this year. Next year, for sure, we will see them at the peak!
