Pepper loves traveling. That photo above was taken at a B&B in Atlantic City. She especially adores riding in the car! She calmly looks out the window the entire time. We never leave her in the car, however, so she only goes with us when we’re going somewhere that is pet-friendly.
Countless dogs die in cars each year, due to extreme temperatures. Their owners think that because they’re only running into a store for a quick errand, that it’s okay… but on an 85ºF day, dogs can be at high risk of succumbing to heat stroke in less than 15 minutes!
Only 15 states have laws in place that prohibit leaving an animal unattended in a confined vehicle. Mine is not one of them. Petplan pet insurance created a petition to request that the Obama Administration encourage ALL states to enact laws prohibiting animals from being left unattended in cars during dangerously hot or cold temperatures. This petition still needs 80K+ signatures, and there are only 5 days left, but I figured I’d give it a shot and share it with you all anyway.
