Silk Pure Almond

May 2, 2010 by Mariana

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or Email Updates. Thanks for visiting!

The Silk brand is mostly known for their soymilk, which though I don’t buy regularly, is quite good. Especially the chocolate soymilk! Now I’m hooked on Silk Pure Almond. Never had almondmilk? Me neither, until this past week. Now I can’t get enough! It’s a fantastic alternative to regular milk with a uniquely smooth flavor.

Silk soymilk has a nice thickness to it, and so does this almondmilk. It comes in two flavors, Original and Vanilla. Both have a distinct almond flavor, but the latter is definitely sweeter. The Vanilla almondmilk is really good in my coffee. Really good.

Why drink almondmilk?
It’s healthy! Each glass provides an excellent source of natural antioxidants, and as much calcium and vitamin D as dairy milk, with absolutely no cholesterol, saturated fat, dairy or soy. Best of all, a serving of Silk Pure Almond Original almondmilk is only 60 calories, and a delicious glass of Vanilla is just 90.

What makes almondmilk so healthy?
It’s the almonds! Every little nut is a perfectly packaged powerhouse of natural antioxidants and more. Almonds are recognized by health professionals as a nutritious addition to a healthy diet. A serving of almonds provides an excellent source of vitamin E (a natural antioxidant), and a good source of protein and fiber. In fact, almonds are higher in protein and fiber than any other tree nut. Plus, they’re naturally low in saturated fat and cholesterol-free.

How can you use almondmilk?
Besides drinking it straight up in a glass, you can:

  • Use it in your morning cereal or oatmeal.
  • Add a splash of it to your coffee.
  • Toss it in a blender with your favorite fruit for a delicious smoothie.
  • Use it as a substitute for milk in most recipes – soups, cakes, muffins, etc.

BUY IT!
Silk Pure Almond almondmilk is available at a variety of grocery stores across the nation, at around $3.99 (or less) for a half-gallon. Visit Silk on Facebook: facebook.com/SilkUS.

WIN IT!
One reader will win a coupon for a free half-gallon of Silk Pure Almond, along with a Silk Pure Almond branded ChicoBag reusable bag, pictured to the right. To enter, please visit the Silk Pure Almond website, take a look around, and leave a comment here telling me which recipe you’d like to try using almondmilk.

For extra entries:

  • Subscribe to my feed by feed reader or email (or let me know if you already do).
  • Follow me on Twitter (@OhMariana) and tweet about this giveaway (one time): Win free Silk Pure Almond milk and a ChicoBag! https://tinyurl.com/2a4bxmf #giveaway
  • Link to me in your sidebar or blog roll. Feel free to grab my button (at the bottom of the page).

Silk provided me with two complimentary coupons for free product, so I could sample this almondmilk, as well as the giveaway prize, at no cost to me. Contest ends May 9th, 2010 11:59 pm PST. US entries only, one person per household may enter. Leave a separate comment per entry & a valid email address. Winner, chosen at random, has 3 days to claim their prize.

I’ve never had soy milk so I would be interested in trying this. I would try the Strawberry-Banana Smoothie because we are a smoothie family and I like the low sodium count in this smoothie.
