Museum Day Live! is coming up next month! This is a nationwide event, hosted by Smithsonian magazine, where participating museums and cultural institutions across the country offer free admission for one day to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket. It falls on Saturday, September 26th this year. Over the last 11 years participation in this event has provided a ton of exposure through advertising and publicity to over 1,300 museums.
Getting a ticket is easy!
- Create an account at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/tickets.
- Select your state.
- Select a museum.
- Download your tickets (up to 2) to print and bring with you! Some museums may even let you pull up your tickets on your mobile phone.
Through this initiative, I’m sure lots of people have visited museums they wouldn’t otherwise have been able to afford. For example, last year we went to the Newseum in DC. On a normal day, admission would set my family of 4 back almost $75, so I really appreciate getting two tickets for free! I’m still deciding where to go this year…
