I’m on the prowl for a new smartphone. My current one is 4 years old, the off button doesn’t work, and the battery dies faster than it took me to type this sentence! Plus, trying out new technology is so fun, don’t you think? I recently visited my local Best Buy store to check out the features and benefits of the new LG G4 smartphone for myself, and I’m impressed! There are three main factors that differentiate it from other smartphones on the market right now – the camera, the display and the design.
CAMERA
To begin with, let me tell you about the camera. I’m constantly taking and sharing photos and videos, and having an amazing camera built in to my phone is a must… and the LG G4 doesn’t disappoint. It features an f/1.8 aperture for impressive performance in low light situations and improved Optical Image Stabilization to steady the shot. The manual mode has 15 settings and more than 135 different options for ultimate control over how photos are captured. I found the Laser Auto Focus to be incredibly accurate and fast, so it’s always ready to shoot those important moments. As for photo quality, the 16MP rear facing camera and an 8MP front facing camera make for for excellent photos and selfies! My daughter tested that feature immediately! You also have the option of saving the images in RAW format, which essentially saves the image file without any compression whatsoever, which produces higher quality images. This is the first time I’ve seen a smartphone camera offer this benefit! You can upgrade the memory up to 2TB with a microSD card, which will come in handy for all those photos.
DESIGN
The LG G4 smartphone, while big, feels comfortable in the palm of my hand due to its subtle curved design. There are genuine leather, metallic and ceramic style back covers for a classy and customized look and feel.
DISPLAY
What impressed me the most about this smartphone, however, is its bright 5.5″ display. I just couldn’t take my eyes off the video I was watching! The screen is touted as being 25% brighter, which enhances the viewing experience in a variety of lighting conditions. There’s a 50% improvement in contrast, so the images look richer, and the Quad HD resolution with 538 PPI provides amazing detail. I could certainly see myself effortlessly watching TV and movies on it!
