Yesterday we flew from Virginia to Texas. Flying with the girls is always fun. Hehe. I pulled out my iPad and took down some of our conversations on the plane… all this before we even left the ground!

Maya was looking impatiently out of the big windows at the airport.
Maya: It sure is wet out there. Are they washing the planes or something?
Me: No, not exactly.
Maya: Then where is all the water coming from?
Me: Um… (trying not to laugh) It’s raining!

Maya was asleep before the plane even left the gate. Maura, on the other hand…
Maura: Mama, are we going to the Magic Kingdom?
Me: I told you, we’re going to Texas.
Maura: Not the Magic Kingdom?
Me: Nope.
Maura: Are you sure?
Me: Yes.
Maura: It’s not a surprise?
Me: No.
Maura: Why NOT? I loooove the Magic Kingdom.
Me: I know. Me, too. We were just there a few weeks ago.
Maura: That’s okay! We can go again.
Me: Sorry, we’re going to grandma’s.
Maura: Aww, man.

The plane taxi’d out of the gate, and then stopped for a few minutes. Traffic on the tarmac. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught Maura taking off her seat belt.
Me: What are you doing?
Maura: Taking off my seatbelt. We wanded.
Me: No, baby. We haven’t even lifted off yet.
Maura: Oh, yeah. I knew that.

As we were waiting, we looked out the window at the other planes in front of/next to us.
Maura: Can we switch to that green airplane out there? It’s a pretty color. I wike it.
Me: No, we have to stay on this plane if we want to go to Texas.
Maura: Where is that pretty green one going? (Aer Lingus)
Me: Somewhere far, far away. Another country, I think. (Ireland)
Maura: Oooh, that’s okay! I want to go der! Please, mama?
Me: Maybe next time.
Maura: Aww, man.

Still waiting. Maura insisted on pulling down her tray table.
Me: You can’t do that, we’re about to depart.
Maura: I neeeed to. Or I’m going to spill my juice.
Me: You don’t have any juice.
Maura: I know THAT! The lady is going to bring me some later, and if I don’t put the table down I’m going to spill it.
Me: Okay, so you can put the tray down when she comes.
Maura: Noooo, I need it NOW. What if she comes and I’m not ready?
Me: Sigh.
Like I said, flying with the girls is always FUN! 🙂
I love it! My girls are the same way with all their cute commentaries!

lol sounds like a long interesting flight!
“We wanded” —- Awh!!! LOL. So cute. I miss when my kids would say such funny things. It happens occasionally but at 12 and 9, I don’t have nearly the daily goldmine of hilarious quotes you are currently enjoying. Keep writing it down, because you do forget most of them.
Okay, I got one from my 12 y/o. This was a few weeks ago – he was watching the news (he likes CNN/current events/politics — better than video games, right?… Right?… lol.)
I walked into the room and he said, “Hey Mommy – I just heard on the news that the prettier the face, the higher the I.Q… You must be super smart.”
I’m still not sure if he’s just buttering me up so I buy him a new iPod, but he sounded sincere 😉
that last one just cracks me up – the things kids remember about travel!
I LOVE THIS!! LOL!! So funny. Girl, all of this before you even took off??! LOL! OMG.
