The Vroom Solo is a built-in, easy-access, hose-based vacuum designed to make cleaning quick and easy in the rooms you need it most, like kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, mudrooms, and garages.
Two Vroom sizes are available – one for smaller cabinets (like those in bathrooms), and the one I received, which has a 24′ hose. It comes in two pieces – the vacuum motor, and the hose cabinet – hence the two boxes:

But in fact it’s all quite simple. The Vroom Solo is installed in three steps:
1) Decide where you’d like to position the Vroom in the cabinet, and secure it with brackets and screws.
2) Connect the vacuum motor to the hose cabinet.
3) Connect the wires, and plug it in!
Of course I made those instructions sound easy, but if you don’t know much about wiring or using power tools, then it’s probably best to leave the installation to a professional, which is what the company recommends. We (meaning my handyman husband) had to drill a hole in the cabinet in order to reach an outlet for the power cord. Having to move things around ended up adding a significant amount of time to the installation, which would’ve otherwise only taken him minutes.

Removing the lid of the vacuum canister was a little tough, but that may be a good thing so that little hands won’t pry it open. Installing the filter bag takes one second, and it can hold up to a gallon of debris. Also included are an adjustable wand and a convertible floor/rug tool with removable bristles.
What can you use the Vroom for? The possibilities are endless! A short video of me using it:

- spilled cereal, flour, sugar, on the kitchen counter
- pet hair
- bread and cracker crumbs
- cobwebs in hard-to-reach corners
- the dryer lint trap
- upholstery
- and more! Basically any dry spill you can think of.
I’ve been using the Vroom Solo for over a week now, on a daily basis, and am so happy with how easy it is to use. I’ve found that I’m using less paper towels and wipes, and am cleaning up messes right after they happen rather than putting it off.
The vacuum turns on just by pulling up on the handle and turns off once you replace it and push the handle back down. I’m thrilled that I can reach every corner of my kitchen and family room with it, and that it’s hidden away, yet still so accessible.
I have to admit that the Vroom is louder than I expected, similar to an upright vacuum if not a tiny bit louder. The suction is incredible, though! So the noise it makes for the 3 seconds it takes to clean up a mess doesn’t bother me a bit. The suction itself is what helps the hose retract back into the cabinet.
The rug tool has worked great for quick cleanups in the family room. It also allows me more time between serious vacuuming, which before I had to do almost everyday. It’s nice not having to lug the heavy vacuum up and down the stairs so often. I could see this being a great appliance for senior citizens, or those unable to lift heavy things.
Although the Vroom Solo won’t replace my regular upright vacuum, I’m happy to say goodbye to the Dustbuster and dustpan!
