Wanchai Ferry Frozen Chinese Entrees

June 29, 2010 by Mariana

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or Email Updates. Thanks for visiting!

Ever crave Chinese food from your favorite restaurant but don’t feel like going out to eat? Yeah, me too. Getting the girls dressed and in the car is too much work sometimes! Or maybe your husband comes home announced for lunch, and isn’t in the mood for a peanut butter & jelly sandwich? That was the case a few days ago, but a Wanchai Ferry dinner kit saved the day!

The newest Wanchai Ferry flavor, Beef & Broccoli, is the one we tried. It’s the first beef dish in their line of great-tasting, complete Chinese meals for two. Ready to serve in only 14 minutes, it was ready before my husband got out of the shower! Wanchai Ferry Beef & Broccoli comes with tender beef strips and an assortment of Asian-style vegetables, including broccoli florets, red peppers and water chestnuts. It even includes rice and a rich brown sauce accented with soy and garlic for an authentic flavor experience.

In less than 15 minutes I had restaurant-quality meal on the table, and my husband was thrilled! He said that if he didn’t know better, he would have thought I had ordered Chinese delivery. It was that good AND incredibly easy to prepare.

Product Review: Wanchai Ferry

All I had to do was dump the frozen beef and veggies into a skillet, add some water, and let it cook for a few minutes until everything was thoroughly cooked. Then I added the sauce and let it simmer until it got a little thick. I like my food to be a little saucy, so I added another splash of water. While the meat and veggies were cooking, I microwaved the Rice pouch… and that was it! Next time, I’d add some extra veggies to the mix, such as sliced carrots or onion. That, and a few other “restaurant-inspired tips” are listed on the side of the package, actually.

The only downside to this is that it’s supposed to be a meal for two, but unless you serve it with generous sides, it really only seems to be a full meal for one. Or maybe we eat too much? 😉 That could be the problem. It was very good, though, and I’ll definitely be stocking up on a few of these dinner kits for those times I just don’t feel like cooking anything complicated! (Plus – the girls loved it, veggies and all!)

Product Review: Wanchai Ferry (yum!)

In addition to the Beef & Broccoli, there are two other new flavors of Wanchai Ferry frozen entrées – Kung Pao Chicken and Szechuan Style Chicken, which will soon join the five other existing varieties – Orange Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein, Sweet & Spicy Shrimp, Spicy Garlic Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken. All of the entrées have no added MSG!

Wanchai Ferry frozen entrées are perfect to have on hand for those nights you’re in the mood for Asian cuisine, but would rather enjoy it with a relaxing night in. These kits come complete with everything you need to make a restaurant quality meal in the comfort of your own home. In addition, there are meal tips on WanchaiFerry.com with helpful suggestions for sides and wine that will compliment your meal.

BUY IT!
Wanchai Ferry Chinese Frozen Entrées are available in the frozen section of your local grocery store. Before heading to the store, print out a coupon for $1.60 off one dinner kit. Use the Store Finder to find a retailer near you.

It is by far my favorite asian meal and I have never seen it on any menu or in any store, but it is SO GOOD, and so relatively simple to make: Shirataki noodles, beef tips, loads of veggies, and that delicious sukiyaki sauce. Would be awesome to be able to buy it in the frozen section; I live in a small town and can only find shirataki noodles in the city. So yeah. SUKIYAKI. 🙂 Thanks so much for the chance to win!!
