The 44th Pillsbury Bake-Off® Contest entry period ended in mid-April, and now it’s time for YOU to be the judge! For the first time in the contest’s 60-year history, you can help determine the 10 recipes among the final 100 that will compete for the $1 million grand prize!
How does the You Be the Judge! voting work? Judges will select 20 recipes to be placed online at www.bakeoff.com in pairs for a period of two weeks for each pair. Consumers can vote for their favorite recipe in each pair. The recipe from each pair that wins the most votes will earn a spot in the final competition, April 11-13, 2010, in Orlando, Florida.
Voting is limited to one vote per person per each pair of recipes. Voters must be registered members of www.pillsbury.com and 18 years of age or older as of May 1, 2009, to participate.
The first pair of recipes was posted on May 14, 2009 and a new pair of recipes will be posted every two weeks (the next updates will be on July 23, August 6, August 20, September 3 and September 17, 2009). The voting period for the tenth and final pair of recipes will close at 11:59AM CDT on October 1, 2009. Visit www.bakeoff.com for the official rules.
So I encourage you to go and cast your vote! To help you decide which recipe deserves a shot at the million-dollar top prize, watch this short video of Jann Atkins, Bake-Off® Kitchens assistant manager, as she shares some tips for evaluating a recipe:
As a thank you for taking the time to check out the website, MyBlogSpark has a fun prize pack for two of my readers. It contains a magazine of past Bake-Off® recipes and an adorable Pillsbury Doughboy giggle doll. Something for you and for your kids! 🙂
My girls adore the Pillsbury Doughboy! He’s just so huggable. Here’s a short video so you can hear him giggle:

To me what makes a winning receipe is when the dish is empty,or you are asked to keep bringing the same dish over an over again, you know it must be good! I have a baked bean receipe that Im always asked to bring an I love cooking it because I know it is enjoyed so much

When you look at a receipe and the ingredients are things you like and you know your family will love then you want to try it. If it has cauliflower and you family absolutely will not eat it, then don’t even try it. I have found that trying to force something on my family even if I like it doesn’t work. They will try new things but I have to make sure there are no onions (if they are ground up or I use onion salt) and they don’t know it, them I can get buy with it. I can’t pull off the califlower athough I may love it. Things like that I cook for myself when no one is around or eat things I like like liver and gravy when I go to Shoneys or Por Folks. My family loves my cooking but it is because I cook things they love.
I subscribe and want the extra entry. Thanks for letting me enter.
I think a winning recipe is a recipe that is made by using creativity. Anyone can make chocolate chip cookies, but what else can go in those cookies to make them memorable? I think creativity and made from the heart makes a winning recipe!

A winning recipe is one with few ingredients, doesn’t take forever and still tastes great.
Fresh herbs make a great difference in a recipe to me. Or if baking using fresh flour and sugar never older than a month. And buy fresh eggs as well.

Easy. That’s the key word: it should be easy and delicious.
i love to bake and try new receips, thank you
affordable items – with not alot of complicated moves and time is important- so if it is less time than buying at the store or cheaper than the restaurant then yahoo- the last thing is taste and orgiinality
A winning recipie, to me, has an unexpected ingredient in it. An example is chocolate in chili. I hear this is good tasting, but I’ve never tried it. Another example is instant coffee crystals in beef gravy. Now this one I have tried, and it does make gravy taste more robust.

A winning recipe to me, must be universal and original. Fresh and flavorful ingredients wouldn’t hurt either but i also feel with the new generation being so health conscious, the winning recipe should be delicious and healthy!!!!

I think using the least amount of ingredients makes a successful recipe. People are so busy now a days that they don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen.
I think an award winning recipe is something that is “unique” from all the rest. It is also nice if it fast, cost effective, and fun to make!

I think a good recipe should include common ingredients, taste terrific, and make an average cook feel like a 5 star chef.
I think a winning recipe should contains ingredients that are ‘on hand’ and easy to make
Regular ingredients, used in a unique way!
Not too many ingredients and great taste. Plus the ingredients should be easy to get and the recipe should be easy to make.

Easy to bake. Tastes great and something everybody likes. msmith0902@gmail.com
For me it has to be not only yummy and present well (I.e. look attractive) but it must also be simple. I hate it when recipes have about 50 steps. I always look at them and know I won’t do them. So fairly simple is another criteria for me. Thanks.
spicing it up
something so tastey and simple you want to smack yourself on the head and go “DUH! Why didnt I think of that!!!!!”””

A great recipe is easy to make using very few ingredients.
A recipe is a winner, if everyone asks for the recipe.
To me a winning recipe is one that I could recreate (even though I am by far a master chef). I like recipes that are simple, but taste great!

To me what makes a winning recipe is when you put your heart and soul into what you cook.
A winning recipe, in my opinion, has to appeal to the senses. Touch, taste, see, hear, feel, so that when I read it, I can “see” what it will taste like.
A winning recipe should be quick and easy to fix but still delicious.

This is what makes a winning recipe. Creativity, patience, and hard work.
A winning recipe is any recipe that your family asks you to make over and over. No matter how hard or simple the recipe is, if it is loved by everyone, it is definitely a winner!
Above all else, a winning recipe should be relatively simple to prepare without any exotic ingredients. After all, a winning recipe is one that the home cook will want to prepare and not many people have the patience and/or time to prepare an extremely complicated recipe no matter how good the finished product might taste.
I think one that is easy to prepare, looks great and tastes good. One that people one to mke over and over.
ones that are good to eat
a winning recipe should be fun and simple
Taste and simple to make!
I think a winning recipe must be one that has a fairly short list of ingredients, is easy to put together, has enough quantity to stretch to at least two meals, is very tasty, and that the family members really find delicious. One that comes to mind is tamale pie.
it takes a lot of love, plus great ingrediants and the braverly to mix anything thanks for the chance to win,
