My kids adore Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, so they’re excited about today’s premiere of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood on PBS KIDS. Even though this new animated series is aimed at kids 2 to 4 years old, mine love it, especially my rising Kindergartener, Maura! I promised her I’ll DVR it every morning so she can come home and watch it after school, or I’ll let her watch it on the PBS KIDS video app (which we LOVE).
Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, the very first television series produced by The Fred Roger’s Company since the iconic Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, stars the sweet and cuddly 4-year-old Daniel Tiger, son of the original show’s Daniel Striped Tiger. He starts his day by donning his red sweater (Mr. Rogers’ favorite color!), tying his sneakers, and inviting his preschool friends at home into the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, talking directly to viewers and drawing them in, as Mr. Rogers did.
Each half-hour episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood contains two thematically tied stories – life lessons that focus on developing social and emotional skills, such as sharing, taking turns, self-control, listening, empathy, and developing positive self-esteem. Fun, memorable songs play an important role in the series, driving the theme home. While Mr. Rogers will never be replaced, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is a lovely tribute to his legacy and introduces his philosophy to a whole new generation.
So all aboard Trolley to the Neighborhood of Make Believe! Check your local listings for showtimes; most PBS stations will show it twice a day Monday through Friday.

We love this program! My grand daughter is two years old and loves it very much. She especially loves the Daddy Tiger character. We think maybe because her own Daddy has a sweater similar to his! Anyway we hope this character will continue to be an active part of the show!
My daughters were fans of Mr. Rogers and so we are glad to see these traditions continuing! Thank you for another excellent show!
