The #RealAge Test- you should take it

July 17, 2014 by Mariana

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or Email Updates. Thanks for visiting!

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own.

I just took the RealAge Test. I had heard about it a while back, but now that I’m nearing my mid-thirties, I’ve begun to wonder about my actual age. While I try to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, I probably don’t sleep as much as I should… and with this crazy Texas heat, I haven’t been that active lately, either. My pedometer shows I walked 1,427 steps yesterday. That’s pathetic!

I figured taking the RealAge Test would serve as a reality check. It takes about 30 seconds to sign up – just log in with your Facebook profile (makes it easier) and fill in a few personal questions (sex, DOB, etc.) Select from a bunch of health issues that concern you, then start answering a bunch of questions… your height, weight, you and your family’s medical history, and so much more, like – How often do you orgasm during sex? What’s your marriage like? Are you a vegetarian or vegan? How much time do you spend sitting every day? Reading all the questions carefully and answering them took me about 20 minutes.

So how old am I? According to the test, my RealAge is 32.8. A difference of 1.3 years (younger). I’m pleasantly surprised by this! Besides giving you a number, the results of the test provide you with advice on 4 different topics – health, feelings, diet, and fitness. SO much information! I think I spent more time reading all my results than I spent taking the actual test!

#RealAge

Within the results I was given tips on how to keep my blood pressure down, get good rest, protect my skin from the sun, fight stress, ease my financial worries, and more. There are even suggestions of tests you should get when you visit the doctor. I need to get my cholesterol checked, for example. As far as ‘Feelings’ go, I learned that while my great relationship with my husband may be making be younger, our financial troubles are doing just the opposite – making me older. Diet? “Relish being a vegetarian. It’s helping your body stay young,” the results say. This sentence is reassuring to me because so many people in my family don’t understand why I don’t eat meat. At the same time, I know I need to go easy on the junk food. Thanks for the reminder, RealAge Test. When it comes to Fitness, I’m not surprised that my current lifestyle is making me older. I need to boost up my cardio to at least 30 minutes a day, and carve out some time for strength training (easier said than done!)

For a free online assessment, I’m very happy with the RealAge Test and the results and feedback it provides. I plan to take it again about a year from now (on my 35th birthday) to see where I stand after making a few of the recommended improvements.

I always get older than I am on the real age test. I should probably treat my body a little better. I’ve changed a lot over the last 3 years. I should work forward towards more.

Oh no! I don’t like going to the doctor because I don’t like thinking or knowing there’s something wrong with me. This might scare me a little but I’m curious!
