What have you been up to this weekend?

Yesterday I took the girls to a performance of Nickelodeon’s Storytime Live! in DC. It was a lot of fun. I’ll be posting my thoughts on the show a little later tonight.

Today the hubby and I are going to see a movie. We try to go once a month or so, though it’s hard to make time for it. I’m a member of a babysitting co-op, so I don’t have to pay for a sitter – which is great – but I tend to use it only when I really need a sitter. What movie are we going to see? Either Date Night or The Ghost Writer. One is a lot shorter than the other, so it depends on whether we want to grab lunch as well… sigh. Oh, how things change once you have kids!

Speaking of kids, have you read my advice on buying a backyard playset? I know a lot of people are thinking about that these days. That discount I shared in the post is only valid until May 7th.

On TV tonight – the Academy of Country Music Awards on CBS tonight at 7 PM Central/8 PM Eastern. Country music usually isn’t my thing, but Toby Keith will be performing his inspiring song “Cryin’ for Me (Wayman’s Song)” live on the ACMs as a tribute to his friend, Wayman Tisdale, who passed away on May 15, 2009 due to complications from bone cancer.

Keith has said that “Wayman was an amazing guy. In the song there’s a line that says ‘he showed us how to live and now he showed me how to die.’ Both of those were true. He didn’t frown on people for how they live; he led by example. He showed you how you’re supposed to live and he died with so much dignity. I am happy to partner with ACM LIFTING LIVES and SU2C to donate proceeds of the performance downloads to support this important cause.””
