I’ve gotten so absorbed in doing product reviews (which I love to do), that when it comes to talking about myself, I just can’t think of anything to say. I have to admit that my life is not that exciting, so maybe part of the problem is that I don’t think anyone will want to read what I write.
Not to make excuses, but I think I can also blame Twitter for my writer’s block. I’ve grown accustomed to writing in short spurts (Twitter only allows you 140 characters or less) so when I think about writing an entire blog post, it’s a little overwhelming!
My friend Tara recently wrote a post about blog carnivals, and though I do participate in a few… okay, one… I’ve found a bunch of new ones that I didn’t know about. For those of you that don’t know what a blog carnival is, it’s a post dedicated to a specific topic, usually published on the same day each week. It contains links to other blog posts on the same topic. A type of “blog event”, as Wikipedia puts it. I can undeniably see how participating in these can be beneficial, so I’m going to try to do so on a regular basis.
The most obvious benefit is that it would give me something to write about everyday, so I’m not sitting here staring blankly at my screen. It’s also a good way to increase my page visits and give my blog a little more visibility, while making new friends and discovering new blogs at the same time.
My dilemma now is choosing which ones! You can find comprehensive lists of carnivals at 11th Heaven’s Homemaking Haven and Feels Like Home, and you can do a Google search to find even more. These are a few that I’m considering:

TUESDAY |

These are lots of fun to read on other people’s blogs, but they don’t really fit the format of mine (ditto the memes). I’ve been trying to think about how to incorporate some of them without changing my “voice,” but I think I’m going to have to think about it a little longer.

I sometimes do Tiny Talk Tuesday, through notbefore7.blogspot.com, to keep track of the funny things my kids say. And while I post my menu plans, they are almost never done on a Monday.

The Mother – That’s hard. I understand what you mean about not fitting your “voice”. Maybe starting off with something like “Not Me Monday” – https://www.mycharmingkids.net/2008/09/not-me-monday.html – would work, or a photo carnival, perhaps?
Kayris – Thank you for that carnival idea! I usually post whatever my kids say on twitter, so I’m going to try and read back and see what I can come up with for this week. My problem is I forget unless I write it down right away. I gave up on posting my menu plan. There are weeks where I’m good with it, others when I’m not. So I’ll just leave it to myself 😉

I am having the EXACT SAME problem you are! I have spent the last year completely absorbed in product reviews and giveaways, and my so-called personal blog is really suffering because of it. I find I’m not taking to time to just look around me and record what’s going on with my kids and my life. It’s really made me have to take a step back and remember why I started blogging in the first place!
I’ve been relying on memes for post topics on my food blog. I do Menu Monday and Four Foods on Friday. I should add Think Thin Thursday with a healthy recipe! Thanks for the idea! lol
