FurReal Friends… we have 3 of them! A Newborn Kitten, a Teacup Maltese Pup, and my personal favorite – Luv Cub Panda. FurReal Friends are the next best thing to having a real pet, since they move and make realistic animal sounds. I love that they come in all shapes and sizes, with something to fit every budget.

This past January, the National Zoo’s beloved baby panda, Tai Shan, left for his new home in China. Many kids across the DC area, including my two girls, were very sad about this and miss him greatly. Though it won’t take Tai-Shan’s place, Luv Cub Panda has helped keep pandas on their minds and allowed us to continue the conversation about endangered species and wildlife conservation. You can’t hold him and refrain from giving him a big hug! As you can see from the video below, the detail in the panda’s features is amazing, from his ears down to his paws! His eyes are a warm brown, his nose pink and rough, and his fur is soft and thick. Press his paw and he’ll make realistic bear sounds. He loves to play peek-a-boo and will even move his arms up to his face to cover his eyes. My daughters, especially 2-year-old MJ, just love him to pieces!

I appreciate that the sounds FurReal Friends make are realistic and not in any way irritating. I’d say the only downside to these toys is that they require batteries, which have a surprisingly long life. Also, every FurReal Friend I’ve encountered makes a bit of a robotic sound when it moves, but that’s to be expected. My kids don’t mind it at all.   36. My daughter is obsessed with these FurReal animals! She has so many of them, but they’re all the “Baby” versions. I just can’t afford to get her the big ones such as Lulu. She would be ecstatic if she was able to have this!

  135. I would love to adopt Lulu. Unfortunately, our cat ran away this past fall and we never found her. My daughter still asks about her all the time and would love another cat, but my husbands allergies have gotten worse and we can’t have one. Lulu would be a perfect substitute for her.

  216. Chubby-huggy wanted this Lulu for Christmas and didn’t get it (hubby’s been laid off twice in the last year), but her birthday is coming up so I’m happy for a chance at this!

  219. Fur Real pets are adorable. It’s so important for a child to learn to love and take care of a pet. This is the perfect alternative for those that can’t have a live pet.
